Enlightening and Applicable

Doug does an excellent job defining and explaining codependency from an LDS perspective and how it separates us from God; but also how we can overcome this issue to reconnect with God and have genuine happiness and charity. I especially enjoyed how this book uses the 12-steps of Addiction Recovery as a practical guide to change from being codependent to charitable. There are detailed instructions for working the first 3 steps of the process and some great real-life examples of what charity looks like from a parenting perspective. Recommend for anyone interested in implementing the atonement and developing more charity to be a better parent and person!

I wish I would have started my journey with this book...

I've struggled with chronic major depression since my senior year in high school. I've been to multiple counselors, therapists, doctors, and psychiatrists. I've tried at least 7 different kinds of medication and alternative healing routes. I'm not saying that this book is the solution for every body nor that it was my final cure, but it provided me with more insight and healing than any of the above methods combined. I wish I would have started my journey with this book.
