A wonderful and life-changing book

I have found this really, really inspiring and freeing - was panicking about my career options and what I wanted to do, and felt as though I was floundering in my inertia to want to do everything and so doing nothing, and this has made me realise that I'm not alone, and that I have far more options than I ever thought I did - I just need to embrace this side of my personality. Really has been an eye-opener. I love the activities that she lays out, and have really enjoyed keeping a scanner book and exploring all my creative ideas. It's also helped me to let go of projects that I have half-finished and feel guilty about neglecting, or hobbies that I have dropped that people make me feel bad about ("It's such a shame you don't sing anymore, you could've had a successful music career" etc). Really have let go of a lot of shoulds and am enjoying my approach to life, hobbies and career ideas. Also love reading about other people and the career and life choices they have made. Barbara Sher seems such a lovely and committed woman and I love dipping in and out of this book still.

Finally! I feel understood, validated and liberated to be who I am!

This is the best book I've read in a very long time. Once I read the first page I couldn't put it down. I read the whole book in about 24 hrs straight through (with a 3 hour nap in the middle). I couldn't take it all in fast enough. It felt as though my brain was re-wiring itself as I read. Barbara absolutely gets what it's like to be a renaissance woman of many interests, passions and new ideas and she gives her readers not just the permission but the full support, blessing and encouragement to embrace our multi-tasking, idea generating, always creating, easily bored minds and to do a celebratory dance around our newfound interests. She empowers you with a loaded arsenal of applicable, super practical real world tools, steps and ideas for how to harness and actualize the potential in your ideas and actually put them on the runway of action by engaging with those ideas through a variety of means...from mere sampling to full mastery. I've recommended this book to about 5 or 6 people since I started reading it yesterday. If you're a Jack/Jane of all trades and find yourself insatiably curious and always starting projects you find yourself quickly bored with and abandoning you absolutely must read this book. It will profoundly change the way you understand your inner dreamer/idea generator.

Barbara Saves My Ass Again!

I'm definitely a Scanner, and even though I might be a high-functioning ADD, I'm still so far from the satisfied 9 to 6 crowd. Barbara's webboard and Wishcraft saved me from a sucky corporate job back in my mid twenties. Now, as I contemplate 40 next year & starting my own small business, I'm turning to Barbara again! There are so many types of Scanners described in this book. I feel like I could be all of them, and it is just gratifying to have this full acceptance of being a Scanner. And to be able to fine-tune it even! Sybil and Serial Specialist call out to me the most, but I am capable of a little Sampler & High Speed Indecisive. Can't wait to plan my next move based on her suggestions now! I have finally learned how to motivate myself through the overwhelming number of passions that I have! Go, go, go!!
